OttLite GiveAway!

Last week I wrote a post concerning lighting in the quilt room, and the advantage of using lighting by OttLite. The OttLite Company has graciously offered an OttLite Floor Lamp to give away to one of this blog’s lucky readers.

I ordered two OttLites and received them two days ago, and all I can say is WOW! I had no idea that lighting could make such a difference. I do hand embroidery and hand knitting while watching TV at night. The table top OttLite next to my chair has made a startling difference by lessening eye strain – enabling me to work on my project much longer than normal, and allows me to see the smallest details of my work far easier. I gave my husband the second OttLite for his computer desk, and he’s as amazed as I am. The light does not glare off his computer screen, and, again, puts an end to eye strain while working on the computer. I can’t recommend these lights enough!

THE GIVEAWAY PRIZE

Thanks to the generosity of the OttLite Company, I’m giving ottaway a Wing Shade Floor Lamp. This light offers total adjustability with flex neck to direct the low heat, natural OttLite illumination where you need it. Excellent for crafting, reading and computer work, the low glare helps reduce eyestrain for a comfortable visual experience. 50.75 to 62 inches adjustable height, 13 lbs weight, 10.5 inch base, 72” cord length, uses replacement bulb T18330. Includes energy efficient 18wHD tube – rated to last up to 10,000 hours. Retail Price: $119.00.

HOW TO ENTER THE GIVEAWAY

Go to the OttLite web page and come back here and leave a comment on this post stating a benefit of using an OttLite in your quilt or craft space. Post before midnight (EST) Feb. 22, 2009.

Drawing will be held on the morning of Feb. 23, 2009. Winner will be notified by email and have 48 hours to respond with mailing address. Giveaway prize will be shipped directly from the manufacturer, so please allow 2-3 weeks for delivery.

Sorry, but at the request of the OttLite Company, this Giveaway is available to U.S. residents only.

ALL comment entries MUST include your email address or a link to your blog that provides your email address. If no email address is available, a second name will be drawn.

I have always wanted an OttLite for my sewing room. I don't have enough natural light in the room. I know that using an OttLite will give me the ability to see colors clearly and truely, making better quilts with better color choices!

Thanks for the chance to win.

Wow! These lights really illuminate. :) Something like this would be terrific. I have this one cross-stitch project that I'd like to start. Doing it with a light like this would make it easier and more enjoyable. Thanks for the giveaway.

We post here and not at the OttLite website, right? I didn't see a place there to post.

I would love to have a OttLite floor lamp to put behind my sewing machine table. I don't have enough light there at night time.

I know I definitely would like a table lamp for my quilting table, so I think I'll go back to the website and take a look again :-).

Thanks for this opportunity to win!

I use a clip-on Ott lite by my sewing machine. The lights on the machine are so inadequate. The Ott lite really illuminates the area and has improved my sewing since now I can see what I'm doing.

Yes! I need better lighting.

My whole house has inadequate lighting. I know that an OttLite would help me see my work more clearly.

Thanks for the giveaway!

I'd love an OttLite for my craft space. As I've grown older, my eyesight have become more strained from computer use. Many times I find the light I have isn't adequate enough to see what I'm doing. I have an old table lamp, sans-shade, that I fire up when I'm having trouble seeing what I'm doing. It's not attractive nor is it functional. I'd love something that illuminates and doesn't overheat the room.

One benefit is less eye strain. This new technology gives the best balance between contrast and brightness without the glare and is easier for eyes to focus. I've always wanted an Ottlight to see true color and to aid my aging eyesight for reading. Looks like they've come down in price over the past few years; before I couldn't afford one. Maybe if I don't win, I can ask for one for Christmas this year! tHanks.

Oh my goodness and green salamanders, a floor standing Ott light would be so handy in my studio!

I could actually see which line on my rotary ruler to line up and cut from, light up the quilt on the frame, and even be able to check colors of fabrics without having to wait for a sunny day and carry everything outside.

Plus, I could stop absconding with my mom's little portable Ott lamp and let her use it for her sewing again!

I love the OttLite. I bought one of the long tube ones a few years ago to put by my sewing machine. What a difference it makes. My eyes had gotten so I couldn't see to sew on black...with the OttLite I can. It lets you see the colors you are wokring on clearly and in the real color so no surprises when in natural light as I have had happened pre-OttLite.

Would love one by my easy chair where I read and do hand sewing.

I was glad to see on their website where they now have the screw-in bulbs for lamps you already own which aren't Ottlite lamps. Will have to look for some of those.

Will post on my blog about this giveaway!

I've heard about Ott lights for years but never checked into them. I have one overhead light in my sewing room and as I get old..er..it is getting harder for me to see in the evenings when I am so pumped to sew.

I am a scrapbooker and I'm over 40 so the eyes are the first to go they say. Well an OTT lite would help with seeing the colors more clearly as well as the contrast and brightness. I have wanted one for years. So my fingers are crossed!

I would love an ott lamp. I don't have enough true light in my work space/painting room at night and this would be wonderful since it helps you see colors and details accurately.

I love my small Ottlite and have always wanted a floor model. I would love to win one. I use my little Ottlite in my sewing room to make seeing easier and the colors look truer and I can match my seams better. I carry it with me and set it by my easy chair when I am appliqueing so I can see my stitching easier. Please include me in your drawing. I will blog about you on my blog too. Thanks, Linda

* Work longer with less strain on your eyes.
* Create more comfortably in low-heat light.
I think that covers it!
Thanks for the opportunity.

"OttLite lighting provides the right mix of contrast and brightness to help you see clearly with reduced glare and eyestrain." Boy, once I hit 40 the near vision started to go fast. Lighting REALLY helps.

I have an itty bitty ottlite and it has phenomenal output! I have next to zero nat'l lite in my apt and love to craft at night too, so the clarity of what i'm working on is key. I just need a bogger on e to do normal sized projects :)

wow, how cool! those lights look so handy. i would love to add some light to my not so well lit apartment!

OttLite offers a unique solution to this problem. OttLite lighting is expertly engineered with 508 technology to bring the quality of High Definition Natural Lighting™ indoors, providing the ideal balance of brightness and contrast. The result is reduced glare, less eyestrain, and low heat.

This is a great reason to use this for crafting.

I'm a believer! I just bought the tabletop version a couple of weeks ago (because I could not afford the floor stand one :). WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!! I can see to thread a needle at 3 in the morning if I feel like embroidering or sewing when it's dark. I can see and not have to wait for a sunny window!!
Would love to be entered for a chance.

I have only a tabletop light, and it's worth every cent I paid for it!

I 'd love to see the true colors of the project I'm working on any time of day or night!

The full spectrum lights make a huge difference. Having one to reduce eye strain and the effects would make crafting so much more enjoyable. Imagine, no headaches from crafting!
Thank you and Ott Lite for this giveaway.

The benefits of using an Ottlite are less glare, less distortion and less eye fatigue because Ottlite gives a precise balance of contrast and brightness. After using one at a friend's house last week, I can say that I was able to do some things without the magnifier with the Ottlite. I truly need one of these!

I live in an apartment in SoCal, where apts never seem to have any overhead lighting...so I have to add my own. I think it's obvious what an OttLite will do for me - let me see...period!

Mignon said...

Ok, so I already know about the lights and know I want one or two, one at least. :)
That is so awesome for OttLite to donate one for a giveaway. Very good customer relations! ;)

One of these lights would be great for all the tiny microscopic detail I do with my jewelry - sticking a 1mm wire through a 2mm hole does wear the eyes down. Thanks to you and Ottlite for doing the giveway.

I am now following you as well. :)

I can be reached through my email on Etsy - http://www.jewelrybymignon.etsy.com

or by leaving a comment on my blog - http://jewelrybymignon.etsy.com

I hope that is sufficient. I've had a stalker who we have confirmed sitings of, but was never arrested, and as much as I am now learning to be quite the marksman, I'd just assume not ever have to use the skill.

Ok, you are also on my blog for a post including your URL back to your blog. Thanks and love the OtLite giveaway. Some lucky person will have less stress and strain on their eyes very soon.

Mignon

I can be reached through Etsy by leaving an email through the conversation option OR by leaving a comment on any of my blog postings as they go to my email for me to read.

Have a great day and good luck to each and everyone of us. :)

i need another otlight !!! my house is like a cave with smallish windows and little natural light .

my eyesight is going bad and i highly recommend ottlights to reduce eyestrain and for better vision .

i have a new sewing place and could use a good light !!!

thank you for offering this easy contest !!!!

Well I cannot believe the difference stated that the ott lite would work. I would think that it would give you a better look at colors and better for the health of your eyes. I am a quilter and have a quilt room about 10 x 10 and I have to have a table lamp at each corner and then one sitting on my cutting table just to make sure I get the best cut I can get without cutting off my fingers. We have an old house with not many ceiling lites. So I would love to be entered in the draw to win one. I have heard wonderful things about them. Thanks for having this drawing and caring about the health of our eyes.

An Ott Lite has always been a dream for me. I have a hard time seeing what I am stitching without LOTS of light. With the beginnings of cataracts this gets worse by the month. An Ott Loght would allow me and my quilting friends to see so much more clearly and sharp the stitching we are making in our applique, hand quilting, redwork, and oh how much nicer those binding stitches. It would produce less eyestrain making it much easier to quilt longer, see the true colors of the fabrics, so no surprises when we get outside. I am recovering from shoulder surgery, so reading all my quilt books and mags would be easier also. ALso no distortion or glare when reading ot doing handwork. It will also provide a fantastic balance between contrast and brightness.

Thanks for the opportunity to win the light.

I have one Ottlite and I absolutely love it. I only have 40% vision in my right eye and this lamp helps me tremendously. I take it into the sewing room, and also use it for reading in the living room. OttLite people, keep up the good work.

I'm trying again - forgive me if you find multiple comments. This is my third try, but they don't show?

OttLites are great for crafting, but also all around the house for reading, computer work, etc. The clarity, true colors and high definition reduce eye strain, making whatever you are doing easier and more enjoyable.

Old eyes aren't what they used to be and mine turned old 10 years ago! One of the benefits of having an OttLite would be seeing the stitches again. The flexible head would be perfect for either reading or crafting. This lamp would reduce any eyestrain a person might experience. It sounds great! Thanks. tmp125 at yahoo.com
