Last week I wrote a post concerning lighting in the quilt room, and the advantage of using lighting by OttLite. The OttLite Company has graciously offered an OttLite Floor Lamp to give away to one of this blog’s lucky readers.
I ordered two OttLites and received them two days ago, and all I can say is WOW! I had no idea that lighting could make such a difference. I do hand embroidery and hand knitting while watching TV at night. The table top OttLite next to my chair has made a startling difference by lessening eye strain – enabling me to work on my project much longer than normal, and allows me to see the smallest details of my work far easier. I gave my husband the second OttLite for his computer desk, and he’s as amazed as I am. The light does not glare off his computer screen, and, again, puts an end to eye strain while working on the computer. I can’t recommend these lights enough!
THE GIVEAWAY PRIZE
Thanks to the generosity of the OttLite Company, I’m giving away a Wing Shade Floor Lamp. This light offers total adjustability with flex neck to direct the low heat, natural OttLite illumination where you need it. Excellent for crafting, reading and computer work, the low glare helps reduce eyestrain for a comfortable visual experience. 50.75 to 62 inches adjustable height, 13 lbs weight, 10.5 inch base, 72” cord length, uses replacement bulb T18330. Thanks for the chance to win.

Wow! These lights really illuminate. :) Something like this would be terrific. I have this one cross-stitch project that I'd like to start. Doing it with a light like this would make it easier and more enjoyable. Thanks for the giveaway.
We post here and not at the OttLite website, right? I didn't see a place there to post.
I would love to have a OttLite floor lamp to put behind my sewing machine table. I don't have enough light there at night time.
I know I definitely would like a table lamp for my quilting table, so I think I'll go back to the website and take a look again :-).
Thanks for this opportunity to win!
I use a clip-on Ott lite by my sewing machine. The lights on the machine are so inadequate. The Ott lite really illuminates the area and has improved my sewing since now I can see what I'm doing.
Yes! I need better lighting.
My whole house has inadequate lighting. I know that an OttLite would help me see my work more clearly.
Thanks for the giveaway!

I'd love an OttLite for my craft space. As I've grown older, my eyesight have become more strained from computer use. Many times I find the light I have isn't adequate enough to see what I'm doing. I have an old table lamp, sans-shade, that I fire up when I'm having trouble seeing what I'm doing. It's not attractive nor is it functional. I'd love something that illuminates and doesn't overheat the room.

As I get older I am noticing that I have trouble seeing my sewing and knitting. The OttLite would make things so much easier for me to see. I have very poor lighting in my room. What a wonderful product!!!
Thanks for the give away!!
Cathy Bales (cathyb5381 at yahoo dot com)
I had been to the Ott Lite website before, but didn't notice that they now have screw-in bulbs...how great!!! I do most of my sewing facing a corner of my sewing room, with very little light. That Ott Lite would sure ease the eye strain!
Thanks for all you do for us! Ramona Thompson (ramonasct at yahoo dot com)
I love this blog, but don't know how you (and so many others) have the time to do this AND get any sewing done! I'm struggling trying to stay off the computer more to free up some time. Thanks again, Ramona
One benefit is less eye strain. This new technology gives the best balance between contrast and brightness without the glare and is easier for eyes to focus. I've always wanted an Ottlight to see true color and to aid my aging eyesight for reading. Looks like they've come down in price over the past few years; before I couldn't afford one. Maybe if I don't win, I can ask for one for Christmas this year! tHanks.
Just to let you know, I AM a QOB member, though I mostly lurk. Haven't gotten much quilting done yet, but LOVE the QOB group! Ramonasct

Having this light would definitely help. The lighting in my house is poor. This would help me to keep from straining my eyes.

With each passing year my old eyes (62) need more and more special lighting ... Ott gives you that and more. Throw me into the pot please.
AND I'm a QOAB member ... your group. Thanks again.
I have been looking for a floor lamp to put next to my sewing machine. My sewing area is poorly lit and an OttLite would be perfect. I am already a follower.

Oh my goodness and green salamanders, a floor standing Ott light would be so handy in my studio!
I could actually see which line on my rotary ruler to line up and cut from, light up the quilt on the frame, and even be able to check colors of fabrics without having to wait for a sunny day and carry everything outside.
Plus, I could stop absconding with my mom's little portable Ott lamp and let her use it for her sewing again!
A light ought to be true,
that's what OttLite will do...
After surgery and dimming sight,
I'm back again with eyes so bright!
Need the best for my eyes,
I now finally realize....
Ottlite is the only one,
I trust for lighting, second to none...
Hoping now to really see,
Things lit how they ought to be!

One great benefit is true to life colors. It would really make picking out fabric more fun. No more, ut oh, where did that color come from
What fun to be able to offer such an awesome giveaway!
True color lighting is an essential for crafters. I gave up stitching late at night because I am unable to see the details in my work with our incandescent and cheap CFL lights. I need one of these lamps so bacly in my bedroom which is where I prefer to do my handwork.

I've always wanted an OttLite after hearing others rave about it. Fingers crossed!
Wow - I knew that the Ott lights would help me see my projects clearly, but I had no idea that they were also eco friendly.
rsgrandinetti(at)yahoo(dot)cm
i def need this light - not enough light in my sewing corner - this would be perfect!
I've always wanted one but they're so expensive I just keep waiting for a sale! These would definitely help for my crafting; there are definitely not enough lights in my home.
onlyoneuknow at gmail dot com
Our home has almost no natural daylight. It would be great to see the colors clearly like they will appear to others as the OttLite claims.
All I have in my sewing/dining room are icky overhead lights. I'd love to have an Ott light instead.I'd also be great for crocheting while the family watches movies.
As a Hand piecer and quilter an Ott light would sure help see the stitches. And threading needles!

I have a friend who has an OttLite and the difference is amazing. The colors are truer and there is no stress on the eyes. What a wonderful and generous giveaway!
r.daniels@charter.net
I can honestly say I've never been to the Ottlite site til now. My previous opinion was that they were for correcting color. I didn't know about relieving eye strain as well. I find myself having to take many more breaks lately due to eye strain. I'm sure this light would help. Thanks for hosting such a great giveaway.
I LOVE OttLites! My mom has one, and it helps her immensely, especially when she's hand stitching the binding.

I love the small OttLite I have by my Sewing Machine, but I LoVe! to have one behind my 'handwork chair'
Thanks for the great group & Blog, so glad to be apart.
Thanks for a chance to win an Ott light. These lights are wonderful and I went to the site to see if they made one to hand carry for my father's work, but no luck. It would be fantastic if they did.
kudl_98 @ yahoo.com
Good lighting helps my back. I know it sounds strange but if I don't have good lighting I hunch more to get closer to what I am working on so that I can see it better. When I have good lighting I can sit up straight and stand straight and still see what I am working on.
The bulb delivers the right mix of brightness and contrast to bring true colors and comfortable clarity to your world so you can enjoy your time even more.
I follow your blog.
I would love to have an Ottlite floor lamp. It would clarify the world for me. I am a new quilter and sometimes have trouble seeing clearly all those little stitches. When quilting at home the colors just don't look right, till I take them outside. being able to see the true colors will be awsome. being able to focus longer will let me work at night and I'll be able to finish all my WIP's and UFO's.
Thanks for the chance.

being a member of Quliting on a budget, I am learning lots of new things. and being able to see clearly, is top on their list. thanks for the giveaway.
I have low vision, I use Ott Lights for everything!
I like to do hand work in my living room in the evening... the lighting there is less than adequate. The OttLite would be wonderful here.

We live in an old farm house. The sewing room lighting leaves a lot to be desired. My aging eyes would surely benefit from an Ott Lite by my sewing machine. I have a table top one that I use at retreats and it makes a big difference, especially at night.
An OttLite would be a wonderful addition to my quilting area. My quilt frame area does not have enough lighting for me.
Pat B from QOB group
An OTT lite is an efficient, safe and SANE way to see what you are doing. As my eyes age and the vision slightly dims, an OTT light is the absolutely only way to see to do anything clearly and safely. Steph sjbonov@comcast.net
Definitely am in need of more light for my sewing area. I live in an older home with small windows so even opening the blinds doesn't always help. Will definitely check out their website.
An OttlLite would be great for these old eyes.
I'ved added "Quilting on a Budget" to my google reader.
I own one Ottlite and it is the absolute best for working in the evening when you can't use natural light. No glare. However, this light is a table model and I would love to be able to work on my hand applique in the living room on the comfy couch, where I don't have room for the table lamp. This floor lamp would solve that problem perfectly! jcquilter@bellsouth.net

One of the benefits of an OTT light is that I'll be able to see better. I knit and quilt. For knitting I love dark yarn, but it's extremely difficult to see. For quilting, sometimes I have a hard time seeing all around the sides of my sewing machine due to shadows. This light would be a huge help! What a generous giveaway!
jackie dot k at comcast dot net
Great giveaway. These are great for quilters because the light makes sure that colors are true to life. Thanks for the chance.
Reducing eye strain would be awesome. And nonglare would be the icing on the cake.
Thanks for hosting the giveaway.
I have also started "following" the QOB Blog. So far I have really enjoyed browsing around.
I have posted about the giveaway on my blog at http://threeturnstohome.blogspot.com/.
Thanks again for hosting this. What a great giveaway.
Less eyestrain is a BIG plus for Ott Lites. I have a portable one I use on retreats and all the time on the table next to the chair where I do my hand-sewing. My big problem is my sewing room lighting...and I can never afford to get the floor lamp, so I'd love to win this, of course!!!
I just signed on as a follower of your blog. (Did already send my original comment about the Ott Lite....without my table top one, I could do NO hand sewing at night any longer....so the floor one would be great for my sewing room by my machine.)
I like how the colors are truer under this light...and less glare! Thanks for the giveaway. I'm in!
I was first introduced to OttLite at a scrapbooking crop. An attendee whipped out a fold up OttLite that was fantastic. Made crafting so much easier, especially when matching colors. I would SO love to have one of my own.

I have a floor lamp at my sewing machine. It is the only way that I can sew in the evenings. I'd love to have an additional one at my cutting table. Could also use one on retreats, in my family room......
Seeing is easier and more comfortable as you don't have hard glare, fatigue or any distortion, Colors are true.
I'd like to have one by my sewing machine for sure!
I love the OttLite. I bought one of the long tube ones a few years ago to put by my sewing machine. What a difference it makes. My eyes had gotten so I couldn't see to sew on black...with the OttLite I can. It lets you see the colors you are wokring on clearly and in the real color so no surprises when in natural light as I have had happened pre-OttLite.
Would love one by my easy chair where I read and do hand sewing.
I was glad to see on their website where they now have the screw-in bulbs for lamps you already own which aren't Ottlite lamps. Will have to look for some of those.
Will post on my blog about this giveaway!

I would like the wide table craft light. I would love this to go on my sewing table so that I could turn the other 4 lamps off in my room. This OttLite would make my life brighter and decrease my electric use and I wouldn't have as much eye strain. Thanks for this giveaway.
Ott lites are amazing. I have a little one, and it gives you light exactly where you need it. I'm a quilting snowbird in SC for 2 months. I could really use a standup ottlite... gailmitchell@yahoo.com
What a Godsend one of these would be! I can't sit in the living room to do my embroidery because it has no light! Just a very small table lamp in a far corner. I really need one of these lights!
This would be a dream come true. I am diabetic and my vision is not what it used to be. I have a hard time seeing dark colors and to sew, I only can do it in the daytime so I can see. I would love to win this light.
The benifits of an Ott Lite are numerous. I don't have one, but according to the advertisement on thier web site, the OttLite creates the perfect balance between brightness & true color. Allows you to see clearly & focus with less effort. Having an OttLite floor lamp would be perfect next to my recliner for hand work and reading.
thanks for the give-a-way offer!

You can see sew much better the the ott light, I would love a floor model for beside my machine, as I do all my sewing on machine after dark, in a dark basement. I do have a table top flip that I use for embordory and just love it.

My home is surrounded by big shady trees and therefore it's very dark inside. The Ott light would give me some much needed illumination, and it's the best kind of light for seeing true colors. It will be very helpful for my quilting and rug hooking activities.
I signed up to follow your blog!
I've been wanting one of these forever for my scrapbooking! The reason is the color quality & the eye strain is nice!
I have a table-top OttLite and absolutely love it! It makes handwork so much easier on the eyes. Thank you for posting this opportunity, and thank you to OttLite for their generosity!
Amazing giveaway, benefits clearer clarity of what you're working on, true colour.
I just subscribed to your blog.
I'm a knitter, and I've been hearing about these lights for awhile. It's difficult to do detail work late at night. One of these would fix that problem!
I know the OttLite would greatly help me be able to hand sew bindings at night. I strongly prefer doing that task during the day because of the lighting.
I could really use one of these - my craft area is in a dark corner of the basement and I need some like like only the OttLite can offer!
I have been a fan of OttLites for years, and am never giving up my portable flip top model. However, A floor model has been on my wish list for quite some time, and would go a long way towards relieving the eyestrain this 40++ artisan suffers without her OttLite. Not to mention getting a true color reading of any of the media I use in my creations: beads, fibers, fabric, papers, etc.

Less glare and truer color:~D What a great product! Just what these aging eyes need.

I do my crafting in a windowless room so this lamp would be wonderful and more like natural light
Fabulous giveaway. Less eye strain is the winner for me.
I can barely see these days.
Wow - an OttLite would be perfect in my sewing room and also for color embroidery work and pattern reading...
The older we (I) get, the more we need an OttLite--it would be nice to see the colors clearer, see details sharper and reduce that dreaded eye strain. I NEED an OttLite!! Really!! Thanks!!
elena@quiltsbyelena.com
I like that they're high contrast, low-glare. Perfect for all my crafting needs!
I love to do crafts at night after everyone has gone to bed. I try to find hand crafts to do while I am watching TV and definitely need more light. This would be perfect!
The OttLite lamp provides precise balance between contrast and brightness. Thank you for a chance to win.
The OttLite helps your eyes focus better without the harsh glare, distortion and fatigue other light sources cause. As I get older, focusing on close-up crafting is more challenging, so this would help.

Love my Ott lamp in sewing room. It really makes the colors appear as they are suppose to withany eye fatigue! Absolutely love it so much that when I went to the Ott light site, I saw there special of get 2 for 1 price so...ordered it for my den. I really need more though, but my budget won't allow it right now. Thanks for hosting this giveaway.
The OttLite would reduce eyestrain and improve the ability to see colors and details. I want one!
I love my OttLite lamps. I have a table lamp and a floor lamp and would love to have another. My sewing room doesn't have a lot of natural light and these lamps make it easier for me to sew. Thanks for the giveaway.
I use my Ottlite all the time when I am doing applique, quilting, embroidery, machine quilting, reading or anything where I need good light. I have a portable model and I love it! I take many applique and embroidery classes and I don't leave home without my Ottlite! You can't get good stitches without good light and Ottlite is the best light I have ever had. I would love to win the giveaway to have another light shining on my sewing machine when I am quilting.
From the OttLite site: "The eye can focus better without the harsh glare, distortion and fatigue other light sources cause. Colors are true to life. Seeing is easier."
Oops...forgot to leave my email address...ruthrberke at yahoo dot com. Thanks!
I've heard about Ott lights for years but never checked into them. I have one overhead light in my sewing room and as I get old..er..it is getting harder for me to see in the evenings when I am so pumped to sew.
I am a scrapbooker and I'm over 40 so the eyes are the first to go they say. Well an OTT lite would help with seeing the colors more clearly as well as the contrast and brightness. I have wanted one for years. So my fingers are crossed!
Love these Ottlites...would be nice to win one!
Wow,so much information. I am so glad I found your blog.

I have an itty bitty ottlite and it has phenomenal output! I have next to zero nat'l lite in my apt and love to craft at night too, so the clarity of what i'm working on is key. I just need a bogger on e to do normal sized projects :)
wow, how cool! those lights look so handy. i would love to add some light to my not so well lit apartment!
OttLite offers a unique solution to this problem. OttLite lighting is expertly engineered with 508 technology to bring the quality of High Definition Natural Lighting™ indoors, providing the ideal balance of brightness and contrast. The result is reduced glare, less eyestrain, and low heat.
This is a great reason to use this for crafting.

I can see to thread a needle at 3 in the morning if I feel like embroidering or sewing when it's dark. I can see and not have to wait for a sunny window!!
Would love to be entered for a chance.
I have only a tabletop light, and it's worth every cent I paid for it!
I 'd love to see the true colors of the project I'm working on any time of day or night!
Karen
The full spectrum lights make a huge difference. Having one to reduce eye strain and the effects would make crafting so much more enjoyable. Imagine, no headaches from crafting!
Thank you and Ott Lite for this giveaway.
Karen
The benefits of using an Ottlite are less glare, less distortion and less eye fatigue because Ottlite gives a precise balance of contrast and brightness. After using one at a friend's house last week, I can say that I was able to do some things without the magnifier with the Ottlite. I truly need one of these!

I live in an apartment in SoCal, where apts never seem to have any overhead lighting...so I have to add my own. I think it's obvious what an OttLite will do for me - let me see...period!
Ok, so I already know about the lights and know I want one or two, one at least. :)
That is so awesome for OttLite to donate one for a giveaway. Very good customer relations! ;)
One of these lights would be great for all the tiny microscopic detail I do with my jewelry - sticking a 1mm wire through a 2mm hole does wear the eyes down. Thanks to you and Ottlite for doing the giveway.

I hope that is sufficient. I've had a stalker who we have confirmed sitings of, but was never arrested, and as much as I am now learning to be quite the marksman, I'd just assume not ever have to use the skill.
Ok, you are also on my blog for a post including your URL back to your blog. Thanks and love the OtLite giveaway. Some lucky person will have less stress and strain on their eyes very soon.

I would love to have an OttLite for my dark little sewing room. My overhead light and desk lamp just aren't situated to give me correct lighting for my sewing. Thanks,

I'm a follower who would love an OttLite!
Added a link to your blog on my blog...I'm a novice quilter and love to sew for my darling kids. An OttLite would keep my eyes young :)
Thanks for the information Joan! I would love to have an OttLite! They are great!
I have low vision and OttLites are recommended by low vision doctors. Since I sew in the basement and have no windows, I'm sure this lite would help me a great deal. Thanks for offering this giveaway!

i need another otlight !!! my house is like a cave with smallish windows and little natural light .
my eyesight is going bad and i highly recommend ottlights to reduce eyestrain and for better vision .
i have a new sewing place and could use a good light !!!
thank you for offering this easy contest !!!!
Well I cannot believe the difference stated that the ott lite would work. I would think that it would give you a better look at colors and better for the health of your eyes. I am a quilter and have a quilt room about 10 x 10 and I have to have a table lamp at each corner and then one sitting on my cutting table just to make sure I get the best cut I can get without cutting off my fingers. We have an old house with not many ceiling lites. So I would love to be entered in the draw to win one. I have heard wonderful things about them. Thanks for having this drawing and caring about the health of our eyes.
An Ott Lite has always been a dream for me. I have a hard time seeing what I am stitching without LOTS of light. With the beginnings of cataracts this gets worse by the month. An Ott Loght would allow me and my quilting friends to see so much more clearly and sharp the stitching we are making in our applique, hand quilting, redwork, and oh how much nicer those binding stitches. It would produce less eyestrain making it much easier to quilt longer, see the true colors of the fabrics, so no surprises when we get outside. I am recovering from shoulder surgery, so reading all my quilt books and mags would be easier also. ALso no distortion or glare when reading ot doing handwork. It will also provide a fantastic balance between contrast and brightness.
Thanks for the opportunity to win the light.
OOOPS! forgot the name so hopefully this will count as my entry.

I have been looking to get a ottlite but always short on funds. I make hand made annie dolls and this lite will help me see what I am doing!! lillybug67@yahoo.com thanks Brenda
I have one Ottlite and I absolutely love it. I only have 40% vision in my right eye and this lamp helps me tremendously. I take it into the sewing room, and also use it for reading in the living room. OttLite people, keep up the good work.

Ottlites are great for any task, from crafts to reading to computer work. Lack of glare, high definition and true colors make anything you do easier on the eyes.

Would LOVE to have an OTT light. I am a watercolorist and also do rughooking. OTT light is so perfect. It makes a world of difference to see the "real" colors either painting or rughooking. Thanks! Great BLOG!
I'm trying again - forgive me if you find multiple comments. This is my third try, but they don't show?
OttLites are great for crafting, but also all around the house for reading, computer work, etc. The clarity, true colors and high definition reduce eye strain, making whatever you are doing easier and more enjoyable.

I'm a follower of the qob blog, too! Love the group, and the blog. Thanks for all of the great info.
No blog of my own (yet - I'm concerned I'd spend even MORE time on the computer), so can't post a link there. This is almost enough to make me start one, lol!
AACCKK!! I just realized that I didn't leave my e-mail on my comment about following your blog!

I would love to have the OttLite! You can see more clearly, see more colors, and more accurately. Thanks so much for this opportunity!
I would love to win an OttLite since I am getting older and do not see as well as I once did. I did notice that there were some bargains on the OttLite website.

I'm now following your blog. Thanks! tmp125 at yahoo.com
Old eyes aren't what they used to be and mine turned old 10 years ago! One of the benefits of having an OttLite would be seeing the stitches again. The flexible head would be perfect for either reading or crafting. This lamp would reduce any eyestrain a person might experience. It sounds great! Thanks. tmp125 at yahoo.com
