What can you do with a Fat Quarter?

As quilters, we collect fat quarters for many reasons - the main reason being, because I want it! - and often end up with a collection of fat quarters that may not fit into any particular quilt. So what else can you do with a fat quarter?

SewMamaSew has the answer! February was "Fat Quarter Month" and the folks at SewMamaSew gathered more than 100 projects for you to create from those fat quarters that probably aren't going to make it into a quilt in the near future. Most projects include step-by-step instructions or a photo tutorial, and are collected from blogs and web sites everywhere.

Instructions and tutorials are broken down into categories, including:
  • Pincushions
  • Journal, notebook and passport covers
  • Fabric mobiles
  • Baby gift sets
  • Oven Mitts and Potholders
  • Bookmarks
  • Table Runners
  • Hats
  • Fabric Boxes
  • Patchwork Towels
  • Box Bags
  • Coasters
  • Softies
  • Bibs
  • Ornaments
  • Mouse Pads
  • Napkins
  • Slippers
  • Patchwork Skirts
  • Handbags and Clutches
  • Wall Art and Bulletin Boards
  • Patchwork Belts
  • Door Stops
  • Buntings
  • Tissue Holders
  • Baby Shoes
  • Pillows
Whether you're planning ahead for the holidays or just want to have some non-quilty fun at your sewing machine, there's something at this web site for everyone. Bookmark the site, as you'll refer to it often!
