New Quilt Tutorial – great scrap quilt!

CrazyXmasTute

This very sweet quilt is called “The Christmas Crazy Quilt” and is the subject of an online tutorial written by Natalie Bonner over at the Piece n’ Quilt blog.

The finished quilt is 43 x 53, and the fabric requirements are simple – 2 charm packs, 1 jelly roll, 1/4 yard binding fabric and 1 3/4 yards backing fabric. Natalie used Moda fabrics in her quilt (she gives the specifics of what fabric lines she used in her tutorial), but this would be a great scrap quilt as well.

Natalie’s tutorial is detailed and easy to follow and, best of all, the pattern doesn’t require figuring out side triangles – use the full sized charm pack squares and square them off with your rotary cutter and ruler once they’re sewn! The size of this quilt might be a bit small for some, but the pattern is easy enough to extend by another row or two to get the size quilt you want.

If you prefer the line of fabrics used in Natalie’s tutorial, you can purchase the Moda fabrics at her online quilt store, Piece n’ Quilt. And check out the sale fabrics while you’re there!

hi joan,

commenting on the blog for the group only give away of the book....
i am not gonna cave to the twittering bit....i have decided to budget my time to/from technology and decided that i just CAN"T devote more time to learning a new trick or reading or following anything more....the time that i
'save" on not using that technology is more time that i get to sew :o) i really think that is gonna be my tip for the group give away actually, so i will go post it to the group as well.....

thanks joan for all you do

My stepmother has the fever for quilting. She has a room devoted to it. Cabinets full of fabrics she has collected over the years. Sometimes she would pull out a sampling like displaying a fine wine. We receive wonderful gifts from her. You guys keep on sewing. Your skills are greatly admired by your friends and families.
