What’s Scrappy and White and Sweet all over?

This stunning free Block of the Month quilt pattern mixes pieced blocks with whimsical appliqués, and best of all, there’s no need to run out and purchase a particular line of fabrics. According to the instructions at My Quilt Village, “All you need is 2 1/2 yards of background fabric, a handful of scraps, and you can play along.” Choose 1930’s fabrics for a vintage look, bright fabrics for a playful look, dark and neutral fabrics for a traditional look, or simply mix and match for a true scrap quilt look!

The full pattern comes to you free from My Quilt Village and was designed by Karen Montgomery. Your finished quilt will be 48 x 48 inches, and requires 2 1/2 yards of white background fabric, 8 to 10 assorted fat quarters for the blocks, 1/4 yard for the cornerstones, and binding and backing fabric. Full fabric requirements are given here.

To date, fabric requirements and four blocks / months have been posted on My Quilt Village, with plans to post one block each month through October. Start HERE with Block One, and you will see the other blocks listed in the right-hand column of the web page.

While you’re “in the neighborhood,” be sure and check out the unusual concept of My Quilt Village itself! “My Quilt Village is a unique new concept. It’s a place where eight popular and diverse quilt shops and/or designers have come together in one place.” When you arrive at the web page, you’ll find the look of a little village street, lined with quilt shops – just like we quilters dream about! Click on any shop to enter – you can almost hear the tiny bells jingle as you open the door!

Joan, thanks for spreading the word about the Village Garden Quilt. I'm having fun making my own version in Thirties fabrics. I hope to see photos from all of those who make one.
